In fighting poverty. That's where we've found GOODNESS

17 Apr 12

Nestled on the slopes of a small mountain range called the Kasteelberg, 87km north of Cape Town, lies a beautiful Cape Dutch farm. More than just a pretty sight, this 171ha farm is home to the Goedgedacht Trust, a rural development centre offering its rich resources to the Swartland and West Coast area.

The trust, proudly supported by the Ackerman Pick n Pay Foundation, works with poor rural communities and is committed to poverty alleviation. One of its main focus areas is the aspirations and needs of new farmers and farmworkers.

The partnership has brought some delicious results; products that can be bought at Pick n Pay stores such as olives, olive oils and quality natural fruit vinegar.

These products are produced from the Olive Peace Grove and marketed under the Goedgedacht label.

  • Olives' health benefits include improved eye sight, stronger teeth and bones, and lower cholesterol
  • The subspecies cuspidata is the olive tree subspecies found in South Africa.
